Radio Times branded digital radio sets on way

Radio maker Pure is looking to boost sales of digital sets over Christmas with the launch of a Radio Times branded model.

The manufacturer has partnered with BBC Worldwide to develop the radio and a proposition that will see each purchase come with a discounted subscription offer of 12 issues for £1.

The Pure One Classic Radio Times Edition radio is available in Marks & Spencer.

News of the launch comes in the week that the Digital Economy Bill opted against enacting the 2015 date for the switchover from analogue to digital, which was set out in June’s Digital Britain report.

However, the Bill did state that it would “help ensure that radio stations and infrastructure are prepared for digital switchover”.

In a separate development, BBC and commercial radio chiefs have announced the launch of a standardised online radio player that aims to stream every licensed UK radio station including all BBC radio services.
