The pharmaceutical company will be a tier three sponsor of the Games after signing a deal with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Locog).

GSK will provide “official laboratory services” offering facilities and equipment to enable Kings College London to operate as an accredited laboratory during the Games.

The phrama company follows BMW in signing up as a sponsor of the Games.

The car maker is now the tier one automotive sponsor of the Games after signing a deal with Locog earlier this month.

GSK is the eleventh tier three sponsor of the Games. Other third tier partners include Boston Consulting Group, Holiday Inn and McCann Worldgroup.

Top tier sponsors include British Airways, British Telecom and Lloyds TSB, while second tier sponsors include Adecco, Cadbury, Cisco, Deloitte and UPS.

Locog recently appointed Greg Nugent to the newly created role of brand and marketing director.
