EasyJet CEO to step down

EasyJet chief executive officer Andrew Harrison is to leave the low cost airline in June next year.

Several senior executives have left the airline in the past 12 months and it is known that the board has clashed with easyJet founder Stelios Haji-Iannou over the speed of the airline’s expansion and its drive for ancillary revenues.
The Board will make an announcement on Harrison’s replacement “in due course.”

Deputy chairman Sir Michael Rake is to take over from Sir David Michels as the Group’s chairman Rake Says: “Andy Harrison has done a great job over the past four years and under his leadership, easyJet has developed into a truly pan-European airline.”

The airline adds that it continues to trade in line with comments made at the time of its last results announcement in November. As of last trade easyJet’s share price was 364.3 pence, down 12.6% from its 5 week high in October.

It recently appointed former AOL Europe chief executive Dana Dunne to take up the position of commercial director vacated by Saad Hammad.
