NatMag MD to step down

National Magazine Company managing director Jessica Burley is to leave the publisher in January to pursue new opportunities.

Earlier this year Burley was appointed as non executive director of Jacques Vert Plc, the owner of four womenswear brands; Jacques Vert, Planet, Precis Petite and Windsmoor.

She does not have a job to go to but is considering opportunities in “the widest possible business context” and sees a close connection between her skillset and the retail market.

Before becoming managing director in 2006, Burley held several senior roles at NatMag including group publishing director of Women’s Home and Lifestyle and chief operating officer.

She joined NatMag in 2001 and is currently a director of the company.

It is not yet clear who will replace her as managing director but the position is expected to be filled early next year.

NatMag chief executive Arnaud de Puyfontaine, says: “We are sad to see Jess go. She has been pivotal in the development of the business and her expertise and guidance have been invaluable. On behalf of everyone in the business I would like to thank Jess for her dedication, commitment and sheer hard work. On a personal note I would also like to thank her for all her help and support in my first semester at NatMag. She will be greatly missed.”

As MD of NatMag, Burley oversaw consumer titles including Good Housekeeping, Cosmopolitan, Reveal and Men’s Health.
