Waitrose relaunches frozen range

Waitrose is to relaunch its frozen food range in January 2010 with a focus on quality, homemade dishes.

The range includes slow cooked meals such as Beef Goulash and Lamb Tagine, risottos, vegetables, ready to cook bread, desserts and cooking ingredients such as frozen stock sauces in ice cube-style trays.

The relaunch is part of a move to educate shoppers about the benefits of frozen food as a way for households to save money and waste less food.

The new range will be available from the 25 January.

As with all Waitrose food ranges, all fish is from sustainable sources, all chicken is British and all the pork is from UK outdoor-bred pigs.

Executive chef Neil Nugent has developed the range for Waitrose and says: ‘Freezing food means that none of the nutrients or flavours are lost, so in my opinion it’s the best way to preserve food. The beauty of frozen foods is that you only use what you need and keep the rest for another time. You’re not wasting any food, or any money.’
