Amazon launches latest Kindle to international market
Amazon’s Kindle DX, its large-screen 9.7in e-reader, will become available to non-US consumers later this month, the company has announced.
From 19 January the Kindle DX will be available to ship to more than 100 countries, including the UK. Costing $489 (£307), the e-reader allows consumers to download e-books on the go and store up to 3,500 books. It was launched in the US in May last year.
Ian Freed, VP of Amazon Kindle, said, “Kindle DX is great for personal and professional documents, cookbooks and textbooks – anything that’s highly formatted. Documents look so good on the big display that you’ll find yourself changing ink toner cartridges less often and printing fewer documents.”
Amazon’s smaller e-reader was made available for global purchase in October (nma.co.uk 7 October 2009).
The Kindle offers more than 320,000 English-language books as well as newspapers and magazines.
