MSP passes information security test

An outsourced marketing services provider has been certificated as compliant with the UK’s information security standard. Lateral Group has achieved ISO 27001 certification – the only standard covering this area of business practice in the UK – both as a whole and for each of its individual companies.

ISO 27001 assesses the effectiveness of information management systems and how well the principles of information security have been implemented. BSi carried out the certification process and will audit Lateral Group annually to ensure continued adherence.

Simon Harris, group IT director at Lateral Group, led the certification process with Chris Parkinson, group compliance director. Harris says: “The security of our own and our clients’ information has always been at the forefront of how we operate as a business. Our information security management system has been in place for more than nine years and we’ve always followed the BSi standard.”

He adds: “With negative press coverage highlighting the importance of information security, we felt now was the time to get our processes officially audited and recognised by the BSi to give us the seal of approval.”
