JCDecaux buys rival Titan Outdoor

JCDecaux, Europe’s largest outdoor advertising company has bought rival outdoor company Titan Outdoor out of administration.

The full financial details of the deal have not been revealed.

Under the deal, JCDecaux will take over Titan Outdoor’s advertising inventory, which includes railway and retail sites across the UK.

All marketing and initiatives currently on Titan’s books will be carried through.

Titan had a leading position for rail and retail advertising sites.

The deal makes JCDecaux the market leader in the UK with a 29% share in the outdoor advertising sector.

All Titan employers will move to the new owner as JCDecaux staff.

It’s not yet certain what changes will be made to the structure and staffing of the business but changes are expected to roll out in the coming months.

Former Titan advertising sites are expected to be rebadged with the JCDecaux name.

Jeremy Male, CEO JCDecaux UK and Northern Europe says: “We look forward to the opportunity of adding the Titan assets to our portfolio of business in the UK. There is a great potential fit with our existing roadside and airport advertising business and with strong positions in retail and rail advertising it is well placed for growth.

There are great synergies between the two businesses that will enable us to maximise revenues for our advertising partners in the future.”

Bill Apfelbaum, chairman of Titan UK says: “Titan is pleased to put our great transit and retail assets in the capable hands of JCDecaux who will add significant value to these businesses. Titan’s employee base should flourish within JCDecaux.”
