Castrol signs up for Euro 2012

Castrol has strengthened its relationship with football by signing a deal with UEFA to sponsor the EURO 2012 tournament.

The lubricants company adds sponsorship of the championship, which will be co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine, to its sponsorship of the forthcoming World Cup in South Africa.

The rights package for the tournament will see use of the Castrol Index – a system that uses technology to analyse and compare the performance every player throughout the tournament.

Castrol, which joins Adidas in signing up for the tournament, also sponsored the last Euro Championship in Switzerland and Austria.

Its ambassador roster includes Cristiano Ronaldo (pictured), Arsène Wenger, Alan Shearer and Pierluigi Collina.

Castrol’s senior vice president for lubricants, Mike Johnson says: “European football is amongst the strongest in the world, with an appeal that reaches far beyond the continent, so we’re delighted to be able to continue our long term commitment to football with this new association.”
