Batchelor was formerly chief marketing officer at satellite-navigation firm TomTom, leaving the business in July last year with no job to go to. He is also a former vice president of global brand at Orange and a former marketing director of the Royal Mail.

At BrainJuicer, Batchelor will be based in London and will be running its offices in Europe and America together with the company’s operations.

Batchelor says: “I am looking forward to developing the company into a genuine competitor to large, more traditional research firms like Millward Brown and TNS…building on the current achievements to bring customer understanding and consumer insight onto even more boardroom agendas around the world.”

John Kearon, founder of BrainJuicer, adds: “Alex brings business acumen, creativity and enthusiasm, a deep understanding of market and organizational needs and superb leadership skills. He will help the business continue to grow strongly and successfully serve the interests of our teams, our clients and our shareholders.”

BrainJuicer now has conducted research in 54 countries and in 38 languages. With offices in US, UK, Australia and the Netherlands and recently in Switzerland and Germany, BrainJuicer now covers 45% of the market research market. Its online panel uses an array of tools including the JuicyBrains Innovation community, a unique tool allowing clients to engage with an online community of consumers who have a shared interest in innovation, and to tap into the feedback of more creative consumers.
