Reporting to Yahoo UK & Ireland MD and VP of sales Mark Rabe, Brown (right) will be responsible for the company’s display, mobile, sponsorship and search technology and relationships.

He moves from his role of Yahoo UK & Ireland head of trading, which he has held for two years.

Rabe said, “Steve has a proven ability to execute and drive sales and we’re excited to see him take on more responsibility at Yahoo.”

Brown said, “Yahoo has one of the broadest and most innovative display and search advertising portfolios in the industry and part of my role is to make sure we’re effectively equipping ourselves to bring those products to market.”

Last month Yahoo’s revenues declined 4% year on year in the fourth quarter and dipped 10% to $6.5bn (£4.02bn) for the full year, despite it launching a high-profile ad campaign in September to raise brand awareness among consumers and advertisers.
