RAB recruits Linda Smith to new role

Commercial radio trade body the Radio Advertising Bureau has appointed former Capital Radio commercial director Linda Smith to the newly created role of executive chairman.

Smith (pictured), who’s most recent role was chief executive of StarCom MediaVest Group, takes up the role with immediate effect.
She reports to RadioCentre chief executive, Andrew Harrison and she is tasked with helping drive radio’s profile with advertisers and agencies.

Smith started her career at ITV as a sales manager and joined Capital Radio as commercial marketing director before moving to D’Arcy MediaVest as commercial director.

She returned to Capital Radio in the role of commercial director and left to join StarCom MediaVest after five years. She lefty the agency in 2008n and has been acting as an independent consultant.

Harrison says:” I’m absolutely delighted that Linda is joining the organisation; she has a proven track record  and her knowledge and experience across the radio and media world will be of huge benefit to the RAB –  I have no doubt she will be a great addition to the team.”

Today’s Rajar figures show a slight uplift in commercial radio’s share of listenership to 42.6% for the last quarter, up from 42.2% year on year.
