Play.com appoints new head of product marketing

Play.com, the entertainment e-tailer, has appointed former Warner brothers marketer Jason Mather as its new head of product marketing.

Mather’s position is a newly created role and his appointment is effective immediately. He spent ten years as head marketing controller for home video film catalogue and customer solutions at Warner Brothers Entertainment.

Prior to his time in his new role, Mather held the position of marketing manager and was responsible for the management of the home video sector.

Martin Talbot, Play.com marketing director, says: “These are incredibly exciting times for Play.com in an ever changing marketplace. We are therefore delighted to have someone of Jason’s calibre and specific experience in home entertainment and video to help us shape our product offer for the future. ”

Online retailer The Hut Group recently poached rival Play.com’s marketing manager Richard Chapple to take the new role of commercial director.

Play.com also secured the exclusive headline sponsorship for Take That’s “The Circus Live” tour last year.
