Seat boosts UEFA sponsorship with local football tournaments

Seat is expanding its UEFA sponsorship with the launch of a nationwide five-a-side football tournament.

The car marque, which is the official presenting sponsor of the Uefa Europa League, is running the amateur tournament – called Seat Fives – and is offering the winning team VIP hospitality at the Uefa Europa League Final, accommodation in Hamburg and flights in the tournament’s grand prize.

Qualifying rounds will be held later this month at Goals Soccer Centres across the UK, before heading on to the regional finals in March. After that comes the national final which is set to be held at Premier League venue Villa Park on 13 April.

Up to 500 teams will take part in the 39-venue public tournament and 60 contract hire and leasing companies prepare to contest a fleet title.

Running alongside the conventional five-a-side tournament is a web-based Kicks & Tricks competition for over-14s who are being asked to submit video clips of their ’freestyle football’ skills via Seat’s loyalty website, Club Seat.

An online vote among Club Seat members will decide which youngsters perform live at April’s Seat Fives final. The outright winner at that event will also be a VIP spectator at the 2010 Uefa Europa League final in Germany.

Seat UK Retail marketing manager, Adam Connelly, says: “Both the Seat Fives competition and our exciting Kicks & Tricks contest are designed to underscore Seat’s Uefa Europa League association in a fun and exciting way.”

“The grand prize of that ’money can’t buy’ VIP trip to Hamburg for the UEFA Europa League Final in May is sure to get the attention of true footy fans and, should one of the British sides still in the competition make it all the way to Germany, I’m sure our winners will look forward to cheering them on to European glory!”

Seat signed as the main sponsor of the new Europa League after signing a three-year deal in 2009.

It recently launched a new integrated advertising campaign to promote its new Ibiza Cupra model, featuring an adult cupid.
