Google adds Facebook updates to real-time search

Google search results will now include updates from Facebook pages as the social network is added to Google’s real-time search tool.

The search giant already has deals in place with both Twitter and MySpace, which deliver real-time updates from social network users that are relevant to search queries.

Facebook updates will now be included, but will only come from the 3m Facebook Pages such as brand pages, celebrities and businesses, and not all 300m users.

Facebook has a deal in place with Microsoft’s Bing to include real-time updates from all users, but it is not yet live on the search engine.

Yahoo also announced this week that it would be providing real-time results in its search engine through a partnership with Twitter (nma.co.uk 24 February 2010).
