The digital agency won the account after a six-way pitch and takes over from Twentysix London.

The COI, which handled the pitch, said AKQA would be implementing a strategy that puts digital at the heart of Royal Navy communications plans. This includes the site redesign and a new content management system.

The agency will also work on tactical digital activity for recruitment, which is the primary focus of the Royal Navy’s digital marketing, including campaigns on mobile, social media and search.

Last May AKQA won a brief from the Royal Navy to handle its mobile marketing. Other agencies it works with include Glue London and Marvellous. Twentysix London worked as the lead digital agency for three years.
