Morrisons to boost website with ‘special offers’ service

Morrisons is to expand its website with a new service to allow customers to develop their shopping lists online.

The so-called “interactive offers service” will allow consumers to build a list of the offers available in store, receive offers tailored around their purchase choice and create and save their own shopping lists.

Morrisons is the only one of the “big four” supermarkets that does not offer online shopping, which means it is not included in price comparison websites.

Morrisons marketing director Michael Bates says: “This is not transactional retailing online, but a recognition of the fact that consumers are using the web more to find the best deals.” He adds the supermarket will make greater use of social media this year.
