Nestlé to launch animated TV ad for Cheerios Crunchers

Nestlé is launching a new television advertisement for its Cheerios range, which will again feature characters created by Aardman Animations.

The TV ad will announce the arrival of the latest addition to the successful Cheerios Franchise. “Cheerios Crunchers”.

In the ad, the animated family will identify the new cereal as “Clusteroids”, which they try to catch in their bowl.

The 20 second TV ad has been created by McCann London and Aardman Animations, and will air nationally on 15 March.

Nestlé says that the TV ad marks the start of the significant support planned throughout the year and forms part of the multimillion-pound Cheerios franchise spend for 2010.

It claims the Cheerios franchise currently has a combined market share of almost 4% and is growing by 9% in sales value terms versus last year.

The new variant joins Cheerios and Honey Cheerios products to make up the Cheerios range within the UK.

Andrew Wormald, Cereal Partners brand manager for NPD, says: “Cheerios is a much loved family cereal, and we expect new Cheerios Crunchers to build on this appeal and take the brand to a wider audience. Cheerios Crunchers is positioned as an “all family” taste product and our research shows that it will be another firm favourite with all the family”.
