The Financial Times claimed sources close to the company and investment bankers have suggested potential buyers could include Spain’s Zed or Italy’s Buongiorno.

News Corp has done little with Fox Mobile Group, which was formed after the media giant paid $381m for German mobile content provider Jamba (whose consumer brand is Jamster) in 2008.

Fox Mobile Group was formed last year in an attempt by News Corp to leverage the mobile distribution rights over its entertainment brands such as The Simpsons. However, repeated attempts to launch a Hulu-lilke VOD service for smartphone users have yet to be successful.

Reports suggested News Corp may be considering the sale in order to invest more in its other digital property MySpace so it can compete more effectively with Facebook.
