HSBC names global banking marketing chief

HSBC has appointed Sarajit Mitra as global head of marketing and client experience for its global banking and markets division.

The bank says he will have global responsibility for “positioning and differentiating HSBC through its emerging markets-led and financing-focussed propositions” targeting corporate and institutional clients.  

Mitra moves up from its position as group head of marketing planning and insight at HSBC Holdings.

Prior to this, he was head of marketing analytics for HSBC global banking and markets.

He has also worked with Barclays in the UK in various marketing and customer experience roles.

He started his career with advertising agency JWT in India and was vice president and director of  client services working on accounts including BAT Wills Filter, GSK Horlicks, Hero Honda, Bausch & Lomb and PepsiCo.
