M&C Saatchi sees profits drop but buys Inside Mobile

Ad agency M&C Saatchi has posted a drop of 27% in profit but is continuing to invest with the acquisition of mobile marketing agency Inside Mobile.

Inside Mobile will be brought under the ad agency’s branding as M&C Saatchi Mobile, working on clients including Reebok, Yahoo, InBev and Sky.

The mobile agency will continue to be led by Inside Mobile founders Dusan Hamlin and James Hilton.

Moray MacLennan, worldwide CEO at M&C Saatchi, said, “The growth of mobile marketing will be dramatic over the next five years, and be central to many of our clients’ communication plans. The acquisition of Inside Mobile, and the launch of M&C Saatchi Mobile globally will strengthen our differentiation from the older Networks.”

James Hilton, founder of Inside Mobile, said, “Being integrated within the M&C Saatchi network will ensure we have a greater global footprint and will accelerate our growth.”

M&C Saatchi reported pre-tax profit of £10.3m for the full year on revenue of £103.4m. It says that 2010 has started more positively and it would enter new markets this year.
