Best Buy announces spring opening dates

Best Buy has announced the date of its long-awaited UK opening.

Best Buy

The US consumer electronics retailer will open its 50,000 sq ft store in Thurrock, Essex, in May. It will be followed by stores in Hedge End, Southampton, and Merry Hill, West Midlands, in June and a store in Aintree, Liverpool.

Best Buy will stock a range of audio and visual equipment, computing technology, entertainment devices, appliances, mobiles, music, movies, games, and services such as fixed and mobile broadband.

Customers will be able to seek impartial and expert advice from Best Buy’s academy-trained “Blueshirts” and “Geek Squad” and take advantage of a number of in-store initiatives.

Best Buy will offer 1-2-1 help consultations in store as well as the ability to test-drive technology and have purchases set up and ready to use when customers leave the store.

Customers can also trade in old technology products to receive discounts towards future purchases at Best Buy.

Best Buy will offer UK customers a price match guarantee plus an extra 10% discount against rivals’ prices.

Paul Antoniadis, CEO of Best Buy branded operations, says: “We’re here to make buying technology simple, exciting and tailored to each of our customers.”

The chain will also open a store in Croydon, Surrey in Autumn 2010.
