Britain’s got world class marketing talent

More than 200 young stars of marketing are waiting to hear whether they’ve done enough to earn a scholarship at the Marketing Hall of Legends’ new Marketing Academy.

After a flood of entries, the Academy nominations are now closed and a rigorous selection process will begin to find the 25
young talents who will form the Academy’s first class.

Besides being endorsed by their bosses, each applicant had to produce a showcase of their creativity – to be read, watched or heard in just two minutes.

Sherilyn Shackell, founder of The Marketing Academy, says: “The calibre of marketing talent that has been nominated for the scholarships is exceptional and the time, energy and effort the nominees have gone through to create their showcases is enormously inspiring.”

The Marketing Academy 2010 Scholarships will be announced in May. The 25 will then embark on 12 months of world class mentoring from industry leaders and development by the top marketing agencies in the country.

Meanwhile, an innovative new partnership will see these business leaders of the future working one-on-one with small charities from across the UK.

As a vital part of their curriculum, each scholar will work with a charity identified by the Foundation for Social Improvement and, over the course of the year, provide that charity with advice and support on all aspects of marketing and communications.

Pauline Broomhead, CEO of the FSI, welcomed the initiative: “The small charity sector delivers essential services to their communities every day and we view this project as an opportunity to further strengthen the charities involved.”
