The energy supplier is to take over from Coca-Cola as headline sponsor of the Championship, League One and League Two from the start of the 2010/2011 season.

Npower has appointed sponsorship consultancy Octagon to leverage the partnership, understood to be worth about £7m over three years.

The consultancy will also work on activation of Npower’s backing of England’s bid to host the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and its ongoing Wembley Stadium partnership.

Npower’s deal with the Football league includes incentives for fans of the League’s 72 clubs to switch their gas and/or electricity supply to Npower. It will also see the energy supplier become the new title sponsor of The Football League Community Cup, the annual six-a-side competitions for teams of mixed Under-11’s and Under-13 girls.

Npower also sponsors the English cricket team’s home test series’ against Australia.
The logo was designed by WPA Pinfold, which also worked on the energy company’s recently unveiled refreshed logo.
