Halfords ad account up for grabs

Car accessory retailer Halfords is running a pitch for the advertising business for the recently acquired Nationwide Autocentres, which it will rebrand as Halfords Autocentres.

The pitch for the rebrand and launch of the 224 existing outlets and plans to open a further 200 branches, is being overseen by The Observatory. Halfords bought Nationwide Autocentres in February and said it hoped to create 1,000 new jobs as part of the expansion.

It is thought that M&C Saatchi’s grip on the Halfords accessory shops retail account is unaffected. Earlier this year there was some speculation that Halford’s was planning to also acquire arts and craft specialist HobbyCraft in a bid to complement its exisiting retail business.
