The newspaper, recently acquired by Alexander Lebedev from Independent News & Media, relaunches tomorrow (20 April).

Then, for 10 days from Wednesday (21 April), an extra 300,000 copies of The Independent will be printed and distributed for free. These will be “limited edition election 2010” issues of 60 pages with a four page wrap

It will be distributed in Boots, at airports, within London zones 1 and 2, commuter rail stations and on students campuses, amongst other places.

The newspaper’s relaunch will be supported by an outdoor and digital advertising campaign devised by Beattie McGuiness Bungay. The campaign follows the theme “you decide”, using straplines, such as “This poster won’t decide the election. You will.”

The regular newspaper will have a 60 page news section and a 20 page “Views paper.”

The Independent posted an average net circulation for April up 0.32% month on month to 184,137, but down 9.18% year on year, according to latest ABC figures.
