Vodafone head of global media joins OMD

Vodafone’s head of global media Liz Workman has moved to OMD to work on the Vodafone media and planning account for the agency.

Vodafone reappointed OMD to handle its global media planning and buying account in August last year.

Goldman has now left Vodafone to join OMD as a global account director on the € 1bn (£880m) business. She says: “Vodafone is a fabulously powerful brand in the most compelling category, and OMD is perfectly placed to capitalise on this and thus change the shape of the media agency as we know it.”

Goldman’s move comes as Vodafone is undertaking a corporate review of its group marketing team following the departure of global brand director David Wheldon and global director of customer insight Andy Moore.

The company has placed its entire group marketing personnel in consultation in a bid to restructure its global marketing arm. Country specific marketing directors will not be affected.

Vodafone shifted its global strategic advertising business back to WPP in March 2009, following a pitch against McCann Erickson and incumbent Bogle Bartle Hegarty.

Vodafone group chief marketing officer Wendy Becker, is leading the review of the company’s group marketing.
