Boyle is a former international marketing director of VisitBritain and was promoted to commercial and marketing services director in 2005.

The organisation will restructure following his departure later this year and is not planning to retain the position. A spokesperson says that the key distribution and commercial functions will “be positioned closer to marketing and business services”.

VisitBritain CEO Sandie Dawe said: “Kenny has made a very significant contribution to VisitBritain, first as marketing director and then as distribution and services director.

“He has created a wide-ranging commercial capability for VisitBritain and re-engineered many of our marketing functions, thus enabling the organisation to deliver a wider range of consumer and industry services than would otherwise have been possible for us as our grant-in-aid has declined in recent years.”

The organisation is gearing up to take advantage of the marketing opportunities presented by the London Olympic Games in 2012
