Xbox Europe marketing boss Gosen steps down

Xbox Europe vice-president of marketing David Gosen is to leave the business after two years in the job to explore “new opportunities”.

Gosen was responsible for promoting Microsoft’s Xbox Live package of interactive gaming, movie downloads and social networking.

Microsoft’s marketing and Live managements teams will now report directly to Chris Lewis, vice-president of interactive entertainment EMEA .

Gosen, whose former roles include Nintendo Europe MD and I-Play CEO, is to leave his position as vice-president of strategic marketing within Microsoft’s interactive entertainment business in Europe “to explore new opportunities outside of the company”.

Prior to Microsoft, Gosen served as CEO of I-play Mobile Entertainment, where he evangelized the concept of “one thumb” gameplay and a focus on casual consumers. Previously he was the managing director of Nintendo, during a five year period that encompassed much of the GameCube era. He has also served in senior management positions at BSkyB–where he was part of the team that launched Sky Digital, Mercury One-to-One, Pizza Hut, Pepsico and Coca-Cola.
