Nectar card expands partnership with Vue

Nectar card is expanding its rewards scheme partnership with Vue cinemas by allowing cardholders to pay for tickets and provisions with their points by swiping their card at a pay point.

Cardholders will be able to instantly redeem Nectar points at Vue’s 69 multiplex cinemas from 9 June.

James Frost, Nectar marketing director, says the move is part of Nectar’s efforts to make the redemption process simple and flexible across the scheme’s 450 partners. “We don’t want redemption to be a barrier,” he says.

All Nectar points collected are now automatically converted into monetary rewards. The scheme now offers a uniform value of £2.50 for 500 points across all its partners, as well as double points at entertainment partner Merlin Entertainment theme parks and Ask restaurants.

Nectar managing director Jan-Pieter Lips, says: “It should be as easy to redeem points as it is to collect them.”

Nectar has divided its reward partners into four categories – entertainment, travel, food & drink and home – in a bid to make it easier for card holders to redeem their reward points across its partner brands.

It has also introduced paperless coupons that mean cardholders can select from targeted offers online, which are then automatically redeemed when the card is swiped, instead of needed physical coupons.

The loyalty scheme has also added high street optician Vision Express to the programme, as of 1 July.

The loyalty scheme, which is owned by Groupe Aeroplan, recently appointed ex-Unilever marketer James Frost as its marketing director and drive its “customer led marketing”.
