Infiniti hires Nissan marketer to steer European expansion

Infiniti, Nissan’s luxury marque, has appointed Jean-Pierre Diernaz as its new marketing director in Europe.

Diernaz replaces Bastien Schupp and joins the company from Nissan Europe where he was general manager of marketing communications.

He says: “To be part of the team at Infiniti at this time is incredibly exciting. The brand has made a solid start in Europe over the past 18 months, but now with the imminent launch of our diesel range and the M Line sedan arriving soon, the opportunity is there for Infiniti really to make its mark in Europe.”

“Helping guide Infiniti to achieving the growth I know it is capable of is going to be challenging but very rewarding. I am looking forward to it immensely.”

Diernaz takes over in his new job immediately and will be based at Infiniti Europe’s headquarters building in Rolle, outside Geneva. He reports to Jim Wright, vice president Infiniti AMIE (Africa, Middle East, India and Europe).

Schupp has been promoted to the position of country director for Austria.

Infiniti currently works with Nissan incumbents TBWA and OMD on its £40m pan-European advertising and media planning and buying accounts.

It launched in Europe in 2008 and has one showroom in the UK based in Reading. The brand says it has more openings planned for this year and the next.
