MySpace co-president Hirschorn quits
Jason Hirschorn is quitting MySpace after less than half a year as co-president of the social network.
Co-president Mike Jones will now head the company.
Jones and Hirschorn took over the running of MySpace following the departure of global CEO Owen Van Natta in February (nma.co.uk 11 February 2010).
In a statement Jon Miller, chief digital officer at MySpace parent compay News Corp, said, “We’re incredibly grateful for the passion and enthusiasm he brought to the company. And as I know Jason agrees, Mike Jones has done an outstanding job leading MySpace into its next evolution and is the right person to take the reins. There are no plans to bring in additional management.”
The news of his departure follows the recent appointment of Sophie Rouse as marketing director, who replaces Lindsay Nuttal.
In June last year, MySpace owner News International announced it was slashing its workforce to save costs, with 300 jobs going outside the US (nma.co.uk23 June 2010).
