H&M reveals e-commerce launch date

H&M has announced the launch of its e-commerce platform in the UK, as part of its UK expansion strategy.

The site launches on Thursday 16 September and will sell womenswear, menswear and childrenswear as well as accessories.

H&M is also making its recently launched home collection available online. The range includes bedlinen, ready made curtains, cushions and towels available online.

Subscribers to the H&M newsletter will be given access to the online shopping platform ahead of its launch, to incentivise existing customers to use the online site.

H&M launched its home range in the UK earlier this month and plans to open standalone home stores as well as selling the range within existing stores.

The Swedish chain says it is timing the autumn launch to coincide with the new season’s collections.

H&M currently has 168 UK stores. It launched its ecommerce platform in Sweden in 1998 and currently sells online in Norway, Finland, Denmark, The Netherlands, Austria and Germany.

Yesterday (24 June) the fashion chain revealed a 25% profit increase in the second quarter of the year.
