Vauxhall is reshuffling its marketing department in a bid to develop new strategies for the struggling company.

Under the changes, Andy Gilson, who is currently Vauxhall’s marketing director will become customer experience and corporate strategy director for the marque. Peter Hope, currently Vauxhall’s integrated communication manager, will replace him on 1 July.

Vauxhall says they have promoted Gilson to “focus on driving a step change in Vauxhall customer satisfaction, as well as developing new strategies for the company.” He was marketing director at the marque for six-and-a-half years.

Gilson adds: “The customer experience is key to our future strategy and I’m looking forward to raising the bar for Vauxhall.”

Both Gilson and Hope will report directly to Duncan Aldred, Vauxhall’s managing director.

Vauxhall currently works with DLKW, which has just been sold to IPG .

Media planning is handled through Carat, who retained the account earlier this year.

At the start of the year, Vauxhall returned to TV screens for the first time since parent company General Motors retracted its intention to sell the marque.

The car marque had been up for sale before GM opted to cancel the sale of Vauxhall and Opel to Canadian group Magna International in November last year.

Vauxhall’s former managing director, Nick Reilly, has now been named as the new president of General Motors Europe.
