RadioCentre boosts senior team to tackle digital challenges

Industry body for commercial operators RadioCentre has appointed Lisa Kerr to the new role of director of strategy as the stakeholders try to address the changes a digital switchover would bring to the industry.

Kerr has been overseeing media relations at Digital Radio UK, the body tasked with building awareness of digital offerings, on an interim basis and returns to RadioCentre with a new title and remit. She was previously director of external affairs at the industry body.

She will report to CEO Andrew Harrison.

Kerr’s responsibilities at Digital Radio UK will be taken on by a new team. CEO Ford Ennals is to take a lead on public affairs and parliamentarian relations supported by Jane Ostler as communications director..

A suggested date for digital switchover for radio is 2015, although many in the industry are sceptical this time frame can be achieved.

RadioCentre has just responded to the BBC Trust’s consultation on the proposals contained in the corporation’s strategy review arguing that it fails to recognise its true public value potential.

RadioCentre has proposed an alternative strategic vision for BBC Radio, encouraging it to recognise its much wider responsibility to the future of radio provision, particularly the provision of greater public value, through some key recommendations.
