ThomsonLocal names new marketing director

Local business search company has promoted Jill Pringle to the position of marketing director from her previous role as head of marketing.

She will report to CEO Elio Schiavo and replaces former product and marketing director Gary Brown, who left the company in February to pursue other interests

Pringle is tasked with reviewing the company’s digital and print product offering, brand position and communications strategy in order to drive greater usage of the search site and reinforce the company’s “Local” credentials.

The company has just merged its online and offline teams. It added a raft of new features to its website in May last year to help drive its online traffic.

Pringle says: “As a company, we are going through a real transformation as we look to simplify our offer and really own ’local’. Whilst ’local’ is a word that a number of companies are trying to associate themselves with, it has been at the heart of our business for nearly 30 years.

Consumers search for local businesses using a multitude of media, and it is important that we are giving our customers exposure across all these channels.

She joined the company in 2001 and has worked across its online, print and data divisions.
