ITV’s Fincham to steer marketing

ITV’s director of television Peter Fincham is to take over responsibility for the broadcaster’s marketing.

The move is part of an ongoing strategic review being conducted by ITV and follows the departure of Rupert Howell, the managing director of brand and commercial, which was announced last month.

ITV group marketing director David Pemsel has added research to his remit and will now report into Fincham.

An ITV spokesman says: “The marketing and research teams will work closer as part of the commissioning and development process with Peter Fincham’s television team – a business area which already accounts for a large majority of its work.  They will continue to work closely with colleagues in commercial and online, and ITV Studios.”

The broadcaster is also said to be looking for a chief technology officer to steer its multiplatform business, who will report directly to the broadcaster’s new CEO Adam Crozier.

Fru Hazlitt joined the broadcaster last month in the new role of managing director of commercial and online to take combined responsibility for ITV’s airtime sales and online businesses.

The station has also confirmed that Jonathan Ross is to host a new chat show series, to be broadcast on ITV1 from late 2011. Ross’s BBC chat show series comes to an end on 16 July.
