The project, approved by the BBC Trust last month (nma.co.uk 25 June 2010) will continue with the remaining six confirmed partners.

Charles Constable, Five’s director of strategy, said, “We continue to support the objectives of Project Canvas and, despite withdrawing our interest in the venture, we believe it’ll be a critical part of our strategy for reaching consumers in the future.”

Five will now only will supply content to the project.

Earlier this month Project Canvas director Richard Halton said the partners would decide whether to sign another partner within the next few months (nma 1 July 2010).
