Johnnie Walker appoints new global brand director

Diageo has appointed Gavin Pike as global brand director for Johnnie Walker Scotch whisky.

He replaces departing brand director David Gate who now moves to the new position of global category director for whisky brands on 1 August.

Pike joins the Johnnie Walker brand from Brandhouse Beverages, the South African drinks business jointly owned by Diageo and Heineken.

The appointment is part of a wider restructure of Diageo’s marketing function which saw Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) marketing and innovation director Edward Pilkington move to the newly created role of global category director for vodka, gin and rums.

Alberto Gavazzi global category director of whisky, gins and reserve brands has also moved to become general manager, North and SouthLAC business clusters, within the Latin America and Caribbean region of Diageo International.

Diageo is still seeking a marketing and innovation director for Latin America.

Diageo global innovation director Syl Saller joins top marketers including Walmart International CMO Rick Bendel and Unilever global communications director Babs Rangaiah as a speaker at Marketing Week’s flagship conference, The Annual on September 29th.
