Freesat plumps for VCCP

Freesat, the joint venture subscription-free digital satellite service, has appointed VCCP to help build its profile and attract viewers.

The advertising business for the joint ITV and BBC venture was previously held by Farm. The company launched its first TV ad campaign in March last year using the line “brilliant entertainment for everyone”.

Freesat and VCCP were unavailable for comment. Brand marketing and communications director at the company is Will Abbott.

The service offers more than 140 TV, radio and interactive channels, including HD, from the two channels.

The latest channel to be announced for Freesat is Vintage TV, a channel focusing on music and popular culture from the 1950s to 1980s.

The next generation online platform is currently being developed for Freeview and Freesat. Five has just pulled out of the consortium, that includes Channel 4, ITV, BBC and BT.
