Keep Britain Tidy gets “saucy” in latest drive

The Keep Britain Tidy campaign is turning to saucy seaside postcard humour in its latest attempt to encourage Britons to stop littering.

The outdoor and social marketing campaign, created by Inferno, uses messages such as “’Bend Over and Think of England’ and “Get Behind Us” with images inspired by British picture postcards of the 1970s.

The work is designed to be picked up and customised by local authorities, who will fund their own campaigns.

Last month, the Keep Britain Tidy campaign launched World Cup-themed tactical activity including posters with the line: “We Don’t Need Messi, c’mon England, Let’s keep it tidy”, in reference to Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi.

Ginette Unsworth from the Keep Britain Tidy campaign says: “Britain currently spends £858million on cleaning its streets. If everyone stopped dropping litter, be it a cigarette butt or unwanted receipt, and picked up one piece of litter a day, Britain would be a more beautiful place.”

It is hoped the latest campaign will be running nationwide by 31 July.
