Visit London prepares to attract non-sports fans

Visit London is planning a campaign to promote the capital to potential visitors who are not interested in the Olympics.

The campaign, set for autumn next year, will go under the banner “Limited Edition London” and highlight those experiences and events that are only on offer for a short time.

While the London 2012 Olympics are expected to attract huge numbers of overseas visitors, the marketing body for the capital acknowledges that there will be others looking to avoid London during that period. It does not want them to cross London off their destination list altogether and go elsewhere.

“There are a lot of unique things that happen that are time limited, “says a spokesperson.

Visit London is currently funded via the London Development Agency. This is set to be folded into the Greater London Authority.

The future of several bodies that promote the capital commercially and culturally is currently under review with a view to consolidation to ensure that there is a unified London message
