It has launched a campaign for US airline client JetBlue this week, making it the sole UK agency to be working with the micro-blogging site during the test period, new media age understands.

Twitter is working with a small, select number of agencies in a trial period for its three commercial products. These are Promoted Tweets, Promoted Trending Topics and EarlyBird, a commercial feed of deals from brands.

A Twitter spokesman said, “For EarlyBird, the offers are US only at the moment, but our belief is that Twitter is a global platform, so there are global opportunities.”

The Twitter ad programme is based in the US and no date has been set for the services to open to the UK.

TBG’s campaign for US budget airline JetBlue on Twitter’s EarlyBird offers 20% off flights to the first 1,000 customers. The deal will be tweeted by both the brand and the Twitter EarlyBird account.

Other brands to trail activity on Twitter include Starbucks and Disney, which used Promoting Trending Topics to plug the release of Toy Story 3 in the US and EarlyBird to highlight cinema ticket deals.

TBG Digital now has 13 US clients and opened an office in the US following client demand outside the UK for its Facebook API service One Media Manager.
