Organic growth accelerated in the second quarter to 7.1%

Maurice Lévy (pictured), chairman and CEO of the group, says that the growth is the result of a strategy that included taking a “decisive lead” in digital operations, expanding in emerging markets and tight cost control.

Digital activities accounted for 28.1% of first half revenue, compared with 20.7% year on year.

Total group revenue for the half year rose 14.9% to €2.53bn (£2.12bn) and net income jumped 27.5% to €213m (£178m).

Almost all regions saw return to growth, with the exception of Africa and the Middle East. Europe saw 3.1% organic growth for the six months period, year on year.

Levy was due to retire next year but has been asked to stay on after heir apparent David Kenny resigned from the group.

In June rival company WPP Group posted five month.
