Brown to leave Spotify for startup

Spotify’s senior VP Paul Brown is to leave the company to join a startup.

He’s moving to a non-music-related startup, leaving the music streaming service at the end of the summer. Spotify has confirmed Brown’s departure but hasn’t yet appointed a replacement.

Brown joined Spotify to head the UK office as MD in April 2009 before taking on a wider senior VP role (nma.co.uk 3 April 2009). He had been MD international of US music service Pandora, prior to which he worked at Sony Music UK for over six years.

A spokeswoman for Spotify said, “I can confirm Paul is leaving Spotify at the end of the summer to join a startup outside the music space. We’d like to thank him for all his great work and wish him the very best in his future endeavours.”
