Sky Arts unveils Rankin high street takeover

Sky Arts will unveil a campaign showcasing a series of images by celebrity photographer Rankin in an an outdoor campaign launching across six UK cities today (August 16).

The 16 images representing different art forms will “take over” main streets in London, Liverpool, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester, appearing on every poster, bus stop, billboard and telephone box.

Sky Arts channel editor John Cassy says the campaign is designed to encourage people to “see art everywhere, even in the most unlikely places.”

The photos feature leading artists including ballerina Tamarin Stott, musician Jim Cregan, actor Dan Fredenburgh, and artist and actress Meredith Ostrom.

The move is the latest in a series of recent attention grabbing deals from the channel, including sponsoring the Hay on Wye festival since 2007, backing English National Opera, persuading Lord Bragg to revive the South Bank Show and giving coverage last year to people occupying the empty fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square.
