He takes up his role as CEO on 4 October and joins the HR Owen board at that time. He replaces Nick Lancaster.

Duncan stepped down from his Channel 4 position last year after five years and was replaced by David Abraham.

He joined Channel 4 from BBC, where he was director of marketing, communications and audiences.

HR Owen covers 10 sales franchises and ten after sales franchises for Alfa Romeo, Bentley, Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus, Maserati, and Rolls-Royce. The company was founded by Harold Rolfe Owen who opened a dealership selling Bentley and Rolls-Royce cars in 1932.

HR Owen chairman Jon Walden says: “It is a real coup for the company to attract an individual of Andy’s calibre. His outstanding track record in general management, marketing and sales, together with his extensive experience of the fast-changing new technology of the internet, will be highly beneficial as we build our business for the future, and we are looking forward to working with him.”

Andy Duncan says: “HR Owen is an exciting business which sells even more exciting products in a challenging and dynamic industry. I am delighted to be joining as the new CEO, and I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues to build a strong and successful future for the company.”

Duncan is also a non-executive director at HMV plc, the leading entertainment retailer.
