Ex-Playboy marketer joins The Sun as brand director

News International has appointed former Playboy TV marketer Richard Gale to the newly created brand director role at The Sun newspaper.

Gale, who is currently European sales & marketing director at Playboy TV will join The Sun in November.

He will report to Barnaby Dawe, director of marketing for The Sun and the News of the World.

Gale will be responsible for all brand marketing for the newspaper and its associated products, which include Sun Bingo and Dream Team.

Last week, the Sun launched a camapaign starring Bruce Forsyth, Denise Van Outen and George Lamb, to support the launch of its weekly Saturday TV supplement Buzz, which launches this weekend (18 September).

The paper also launched a perfume under the same name as a “pre-launch teaser”.

Dawe says: “Richard is an important new hire for The Sun. He brings a wealth of experience of brand marketing in the media industry as well as digital expertise that will make him a valuable addition to the team.”
