Nintendo reveals star line-up

Nintendo has unveiled a celebrity line-up for its Christmas advertising campaign including Sir Terry Wogan, JLS and Ant and Dec.

The ads will also star Dame Helen Mirren, X-Factor stars Alexandra Burke and Olly Murs and Jamie and Louise Redknapp.

The gaming company claims that one in three UK households owns a Nintendo Wii and is intending to demonstrate that Nintendo offers “something for everyone” this Christmas.

The first of Nintendo’s Christmas ad executions, starring JLS, breaks today (Monday 4 October) during Hollyoaks on Channel 4.

The ad campaign will feature separate ads starring Dame Helen Mirren showcasing the health and fitness game Wii Fit Plus and JLS promoting Wii Party, which includes 80 minigames.

Sir Terry Wogan will endorse the Brain Training game on the Nintendo DS while the Redknapp family will showcase New Super Mario Bros.

Ads will also feature X-Factor stars Alexandra Burke and Olly Murs playing Dragon Quest IX and New Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo DS.

Ant and Dec will support Donkey Kong Country Returns on the Wii while Jedward will be playing adventure game Dragon Quest IX.

Burke and Jedward will also appear at Nintendo’s Wii Party Big Day Out “thank you” event for fans on Saturday (9 October).

Dawn Paine, marketing director at Nintendo UK, says: “This year’s star line up is the best yet, demonstrating the wide appeal of Nintendo products. This Christmas, with the help of our celebrity friends, we will be helping the nation play together and have fun whatever their age.”
