EasyJet gives weight to corporate comms with new recruit
Low cost airline easyJet has recruited former Virgin Atlantic corporate affairs chief Paul Moore to sit on the management board and handed him the role of communications director.
The appointment comes a day after easyJet and founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou revealed that they had come to an agreement, subject the shareholder approval, over new terms for the licensing of the “easyJet” brand name.
Sir Stelios has been in dispute with easyJet since 2008 over the extension of its operations beyond flying and the speed of its expansion. The war of words between Sir Stelios and the easyJet board has received plenty of media coverage
Moore will manage easyJet’s media relations across Europe along with the airline’s public affairs and CSR activities. He reports to recently appointed chief executive Carolyn McCall and starts on 1 November.
He was most recently communications and public affairs director at FirstGroup and prior to that director of corporate affairs at Virgin Atlantic Airways.
McCall says:” I am delighted that Paul will be joining us as our communications director… His experience will be extremely valuable to easyJet given the depth and breadth of his background in the sector.”
